Do you have a passion for children’s literature and getting children and young people reading for pleasure?

Would your dream job involve both of these?

Could you take a major children’s cultural event to the next level?

If you can answer yes to all of the above you might just be the person we’re looking for to continue the journey of The Big Malarkey Festival, an amazing family festival established by Hull Libraries during Hull’s time as UK City of Culture.

Hull Library Service is seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational person who will be responsible for all aspects of creating and delivering a fun and inspiring world class family festival including, programming, management, fund-raising, communication and collaboration with partners to create a festival experience that makes audiences, speakers and sponsors want to come back for more.

We are looking for a candidate who has previous experience of planning and delivering large events or festivals and in programming for children and families. Through your experience we expect you will have developed significant relevant skills and knowledge, including excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships and partnerships.

You must have a flexible approach to work as this job will require the successful candidate to work evenings and weekends and to be able to change your days and hours of work, although generally you will be able to plan ahead for this. Your contract will require you to work 21 hours per week with up to an additional 148 hours per year that you may need to work at particularly busy periods.

Hull Culture & Leisure is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd reserve the right to close any recruitment campaign before the advertised closing date.
