This is an exciting opportunity to join the service at an incredible time with Hull still very much in the spotlight having been awarded UK City of Culture status in 2017 and continuation of establishing Hull New Theatre’s reputation as a world-class theatre following re-opening after major refurbishment.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Operations Manager to join the senior management team and contribute to the overall leadership of the Theatres and Halls service including development of the venues and growth of our artistic programmes and events.  This role is also key to ensure the smooth operation of the buildings through facility management, service delivery and customer management.

The successful candidate will provide inspired leadership for the front-line and back-of-house teams responsible for the operational planning and efficient, safe delivery of the artistic programmes and events ensuring excellent customer care is provided to all customers, performing artists and visitors.

Significant industry experience within all associated operational elements in comparable major venues is essential plus demonstrable track record of leading and managing teams in a complex environment with multiple deadlines.

As a member of the senior management team leadership skills are essential with the ability to think strategically as well a high level of organisation, communication and interpersonal skills to build and manage effective relationships with multiple stakeholders.

The post holder will be expected to oversee the operational budgets for the Theatres and Halls service and must be able to demonstrate sound business skill in budgeting and financial cost control coupled with ensuring commercial success by maximizing profitability for front-line trading activities.

It is essential that the successful candidate has up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and experience of leading in the development and implementation of effective policies and procedures within this key area.

Due to the nature of the role, a flexible approach to working, including the ability to work unsociable hours is essential.
