Keeping fit and active is one of the most important ways to protect both your mental and physical wellbeing during these unprecedented times. 

Join the Movement is a Sport England’s campaign, giving you the advice and tools you need to help you stay active while the country deals with the coronavirus outbreak. On this page we have provided additional links to local and national groups who have great ideas for staying active while you may still be staying at home.

Us Mums Logo
Our friends at US Mums have put together their own timetable of online classes to help new and expecting mums stay fit while they can’t attend classes. Visit their Facebook page to find out how to take part. They offer both livestream and recorded sessions!

One You
The NHS are supporting physical activity through their One You campaign. This page has a strength workout, a cardio workout and a cool down. Perfect for getting an Active 10 in. Complete all 3 in a day and you’ll be working towards achieving the recommended levels for adults to be classed as physically active! Click here to visit the page.

The Change4Life campaign are also supporting your kids in getting active too. Change4Life have teamed up with Disney to create a range of fun active games for the whole family to play. The Change4Life website has a huge variety of meal menus which are healthy, nutritious, tasty and simple to cook. Visit the page here.

Just because you should only be leaving the house for one form of exercise a day doesn’t mean you can’t get your steps in! Fitmums have launched the Stay at Home Mile challenge. Walk at least a mile a day and colour in their rainbow tracker and display it in your window to show support for all of our keyworkers!

Remember in this difficult period your mental wellbeing is paramount. MIND has created an online resource to help support positive mental health during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Couch to 5k
Have you always wanted to take up running? Access the NHS Couch to 5k program and make the most of your one exercise a day. The program allows you build up your runs and you can always repeat a session if you’re not ready to move on. 

Just remember to be mindful to other people on your run and practice social distancing.

BBC Supermovers is a resource that can help you get the kids active and support you with some home learning. It has the added bonus of being aimed at teachers so the videos are curriculum linked, check out the resources and see how you can apply them at home.

This Girl Can
This Girl Can have also partnered with Disney to create Disney Dance-Alongs, featuring a selection of routines from some Disney classics to get you all active. Check them out here. This Girl Can have also put together a helpful page all about home exercises with easy suggestions for how you can swap gym equipment for household objects. 

Lets Ride Local logo
British Cycling have launched Lets Ride Local. This site is dedicated to providing families with ideas and inspiration to keep cycling in a fun and safe way in their local areas. The website has links to cycling routes, handy tips on maintaining your bikes, guides on how to teach your children to ride and how to ride in a safe and responsible way. NHS logo
For older adults or those with limited movement the NHS have also commissioned videos showing how to take part in some sitting exercises. These can be found here. They have also put together a half hour Pilates workout suitable for those with pre-existing conditions which you can watch here.

Premier League Primary Stars
Premier League Primary Stars has resources aimed at helping kids get active and learn from home. This includes physical activity, Maths, English and PSHE which can be found online here.

Our Parks Logo
Our Parks is a collective of fitness trainers offering classes for the public! With social distancing in place they’ve created a great YouTube page with a great mix of workouts you can do at home or in the garden. There’s a number of workouts for different age groups and abilities. You can watch all of their workout videos here.

PE with Joe Wicks
The Body Coach TV is the home of Joe Wicks’ workouts. He has hundreds of free workouts for all fitness levels. These fun workouts can be done at home with no equipment. Visit his channel by clicking here.

Zwift Virtual Cycling Logo
British Cycling have teamed up with Zwift to deliver a range of virtual cycling rides and workouts which are aimed at all levels of cyclists.

Join in with the following rides: British Cycling Race and Time Trial Series, British Cycling Workout Series, HSBC UK Breeze Group Rides, Team Breeze Group Workouts and the Great Britain Cycling Team Endurance Rides. Please note that to participate you will require a bike, turbo trainer and a Zwift account.

Action for Happiness Logo
Action for Happiness have monthly calendars which you can download from their website. These calendars have daily actions which will help you look after yourself and others.

Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy has a dedicated webpage providing information and useful videos on helping older people stay active at home. The page has a simple range of strength and balance exercises which are proven to have a positive impact on improving the physical health of older people. You can view the page here.

Move Crew Logo

Move Crew is a programme developed with the expertise of teachers and physical activity specialists, elite athletes, kids and coaches. Each mission is designed to help kids unlock their 60 minutes of daily recommended activity. A Nike athlete will announce a new weekly theme each Monday, while a new Move Mission will be released at every weekday morning at 8am. This Mum Moves

This Mum Moves is a website aimed at supporting pregnant women and new mums to be active. The website features a wide range of activities and videos from yoga and pilates to circuit training and CV exercises. The This Mum Moves website can be found here.



LTA logo
The Lawn Tennis Association has a wide range of activities for children and families on their website including videos and activity cards and games which are ideal for developing tennis skills, keeping active and also linking indoor activities into primary school numeracy, literacy and personal development. Football Association logo

The Football Association has a great new resource on their website called Extra Time. The page has a range of football activities that you can do at home to keep you on top of your game including Disney themed football challenges and #WILDCATSWEDNESDAY

The Rugby Football League, in partnership with the national social care charity, Community Integrated Care, and Leeds Rhinos Foundation have launched the #ActiveAtHome initiative, for everyone to keep active during this difficult time.
