Following a £500,000 major refurbishment, Pickering Park Aviary is now open.
The aviary is at the heart of Pickering Park and celebrates the city’s cultural links with our twin city, Freetown in Sierra Leone. The aviary is dedicated to the education and conservation of both African and native biodiversity and natural habitats including our collection of African birds, small mammals such as meerkats and porcupines and reptiles including tortoises.
Alongside our variety of heated aviaries and vivariums, Pickering Park Aviary is also home to an education area where we deliver curriculum based education packages to schools and groups.
